Lovely looking car Ben. The wheel colour really suits the look, and as RDS said, lowering the car really does transform its looks.

I used to have 20mm spacers on the rear, but switched to 15mm to avoid arch scrapping, which has allowed me to have it lower but still without the issues of rubbing.

I look forward to seeing furthe updates... :)

Thanks James :)
I would have got 15mm for the rear but love the look of it being nearly flush haha. Should be fine once I've raised the back so its equal with the front.

I have a 2003, 1.4 16v engine code bby... What can i get the bottom end out of?
1999 ibiza? Vw polo? Vw golf? Would the bottom end be the same?
Also my engine is the coil pack, would the bottom end have to come out of a engine with coil pack also?
Thanks :)

Hi again :)

Ordered Fabia rear wiper conversion the other day ready for winter.

The previous owner had bought new Powerflex dog bone bushes and never fitted them.
So yesterday afternoon, I did :)

Had been putting it off as I didn't know what to expect. But I can't believe how easy it was!
Noticed a little difference when pulling away hard, seems more solid. And biting point in first gear, there is some vibration but nothing bad.
Here's a few pics...

New wiper turned up this earlier this morning :)

Took less than 5 minutes to fit!

Old

New

Next on the to do list:

  • Raise the rear suspension, so it's level with the front.
  • Fix a strange noise coming for inside the car when the heating fans are on high. :\
  • Replace the coolant temperature sensor, as I think that's to blame for the coolant dial going up and down.
  • Rebush the front wishbones with Powerflex bushes.
  • Replace top mounts, which I think are causing a creaking noise.
  • Buy and fit oil cooler, in an attempt to keep oil below 114° when...playing about.

Yeah machine polish should improve it a lot!

Oil cooler

Thinking of fitting an oil cooler ready for some occasional track use.

Just after some advice for all the parts required...

Hoping this is everything I'll need?

2 x 90degree elbows (1/2inch)

About 2metres of stainless braided hose (1/2inch)

This is one of my next jobs to fit an oil cooler. I bought the same cooler from Bill B5 for about £52 delivered so check around and you'll buy it cheaper. For fittings and the hosing I rang deamon tweaks and bought it from them which again was cheaper than the links you put up. Plus you can ask them for advise. You'll need 2 meters of hose.
Here is a good thread from the MK1 section as you'll also need a few more bits to fit the sandwich plate. Details are in the link.

New front discs and pads

Ordered new front discs and pads earlier this week from Badger 5, speedy delivery a few days later and fitted them today.

EBC Ultimax and Ferodo DS2500

Had to drill the bolt out that was holding the disc on so will get 2 new ones sometime.

Drove a couple of miles and the black had soon worn off :)
Will give them a couple hundred miles to bed in properly before I start using them hard.
Looking much nicer...

Had some time left this afternoon so got round to raising the rear suspension at last as it was lower than the front!

New height - Old

Also ordered some 5.1 brake fluid, fitted new spark plugs and sourced a new heater as the bearing seems to have gone.

Tempted to book a track day at Snetterton on the 18th

I must get the oil cooler ordered!

Oil cooler and sandwich plate ordered at last!
Will get fittings and hose locally.

Trackday at on the 18th so need to hurry up and fit it!

Also, brakes bled yesterday and seem to have bedded in nicely :D

looks great mate, keep up the good work.

any furture plans for the beast??

Thanks, I'll try haha!
Hmm not sure, maybe a cobra cat back and I like the idea of WMI. Currently making a heat shield and will probably get a few more silicone hoses for the engine bay :)
Ideally the cambelt and water pump need doing too.
All money though :(

Nice car

Given that it is a black LCR with anthracite wheels and a re-located front number plate I was bound to like it. And you even live in my favourite city :D

Keep up the good work.
