As per the title, I took my side-skirts off to give them a good clean before the winter weather adds even more crud to the inside of them.

On taking the passenger side off I noticed a dent in the body part of the sill about the size of a tennis ball, it looks like someone has rested the sills against a jack at some point!

I also found the same on the other side, and my driver's front sill looks like this:

Anyone know a good way to fix this so my side skirt will go back on properly? At the moment there's a 2/3mm gap between the skirt and the door sill.

And any good tips on jacking the car up when it's this low but only have a standard trolley jack that won't reach the subframe? I know the driving on to blocks method but I don't always carry round bricks/blocks of wood or ramps

But you take a trolley jack around?

I used to jack it on the suicide jack, and then use the trolley jack.

tbh, I'd just make some small cuts to the skirt & refit it & pretend you can't see it

No I don't take that round either, but the suicide jack is pointless on a ill that isn't there any more and I feel that even if I got the reinforced bit bent back in place it will have lost a lot of strength.

That would work if it wasn't for the above, obviously some numpty just hasn;t jacked the car up properly and I've admittedly made it worse not knowing there was a problem there :(

Good idea with the side-skirts though, will give that a go when they're cleaned up :)

Any more suggestions?

In your rr, my mates dad did it for me on my first car. Slide hammer welded to the sill, smash it out as best you can various times, then grind the old weld off and spray the whole lower half in wrinkle black?

Mines the same, only mine are flatter.

How do the skirts come off btw? Would like to remove mine to inspect the damage.

Flatter than that!? ouch!

The skirts are held by torx screws and hook-over clips on the side of the car. There's 1 torx screw in the front wheel arch, one in the rear wheel arch (which is a bitch to get at) and about 5 underneath. Then the whole skirt is just hooked over the black clips you can see in the first pic.

Just seen it mate, do you mean the dent or the flattened section of sill? Cause the dent I'm not as fussed about as it's hidden behind the skirts.
