hi all, having recently fitted some new wheels its now very apparent that my car seems to be riding on stilts?!?

so the next logical step is to lower her :) Ive whittled it down to 2 options :-

1. Eibach Pro Kit (approx 25mm-30mm drop)
2. H&R lowering springs (approx 40mm drop)

anyone out there with either of these setups can you cast your judgement? i am airing on the side of the eibach's simply because it will achieve what im looking for OEM+ effect.

any pictures would be greatly appreciated, thanks

on a final note wheres the best place to get them? cheapest?

cheers

Bert

Search is your friend :)

But for springs its all about looks. H& R gives a levelled stance, eibach keeps the nose down stance. IMO and experience eibachs all the way. Much more progressive than H&R, still a great spring though

Only H&R for me I'm afraid tried sportlines and pro springs and now settled for the best which is H&R
In my opinion best ride with standard shocks and best stance.

thanks people :) graham I will be fitting them myself at work so it's not a problem. what's the ride quality like on the H&R's? it's just the 40mm drop is alot. I have seen a pick of a Leon on the pro kit and it looks just right at 25-30mm all around, hmm whats the best prices you lot have found? I'm looking around £170-£180ish for the eibachs or around £200 for the H&R's

To be honest there is more drop with the sportlines than there is with the H&R and springs.
That's why I like the H&R ones as the sportlines were just too low for me especially the rear.

I'm looking at the eibach pro kit mate, not the sportlines. (less of a drop)
hmm H&R'S are looking good :) thanks LC

I'm on the Eibach Pro kit much nicer handling than stock nice and progressive and the drop is quite subtle

cheers Tony and Kev, they both look spot on. i am swayed towards the eibachs, as it the wheels sit just nicely in the arches + the actual springs look very OEM (only the little eibach print to give them away lol)

kev have you noticed any difference between the eibach's and H&R good or bad?

Well the H&R springs are a different design of spring as the rear has multiple coils wound very close together.
In terms of comfort I'd put H&R then pro springs.
I found the pro springs quite stottie with oem shocks.
If yours is a pre fl car then the pro springs are a marginally better ride than standard.
But as above H&R my number 1 choice.

Any problems with speed bumps when on 40mm lowered H&R's??

I have a K1 and want to lower it but I live on a road with big evil speed humps.

My R runs 19 inch wheels and H&R springs with no problems whatsoever although the front bumper on a k1 is lower.
I ran sportlines on my last fr with btcc kit and had no problems with speed bumps so the H&R springs are less of a drop than sportlines so can't see you having any problems.

Cool, cheers for that,

What about the usability of the car with the 40mm H&R? Can it still be loaded up with wife, kids etc and not scrape and crunch the wheel arches and take off the first 10mm of road surface?

I have previous with lowering cars and it always wrecks the ride and useablity of thre car.

Well my car has run H&R springs for 10k never rubbed once carry wife and 2 kids most of the time been loaded to go on holiday etc all ok.
I haven't heard of any problems at all.
As for ride quality etc running on 19s the ride is an improvement over standard and if your car is a pre fl car anythings an improvement.
