Just been to a VAG event near me, saw plenty of great cars. Truth be told mostly cosmetic mods but there were a two that had different turbos. One running a big garrett of some kind the other a loba400 in an ed30. I got talking to the guy and he agreed to take me for a test run in it after the show. Wow is all I can say, it appeared to pull from less than 2500rpm all the way to well 7500rpm where he backed off. To cut a long story short, comparing my modded cupra was like sitting in my mates stage 1 gti. Massive difference and Im sold. Ive been considering a hybrid k04 for a while but its a lot of money and nobody i know has done the swap and until today i had never driven in one.
Question is where can I get one new for the best money? Missed out on an owen hybrid on ebay last week and dont mind that or the loba 400. Loba site shows 1975 euros new or 1275 euros for a rebuild of my old turbo. Id prefer new tbh. Anyone clued up as to where to buy cheapest?
