Just want to get some ideas for sealing up the intercooler pipes, i'm on standard map but it peaks at 24psi with decat, egr disconnect and smoothed airbox.

I've put heavy duty cable ties on, took em off there lately because I wanted to take off pipes, clean up joints and see if I could seal them with silicone or something similar.

Any recommendations?

The lugs aren't too worn, car done 66k.

Checked actuator, nice bit of movement in it.

I found putting some PTFE tape over the pipe makes a nice tight seal. Also, squeeze the horseshoe clips closed before you put them on as I think they'll likely have stretched a little when youve prized them off

Clean pipe and hose well coat in hairspray and use new hose clips..if still popping hoses get ever tension murry clamps

Kool, good ideas!

Here's some I plan to try, as I'm using the OEM pipes and Intercooler:

1. drill and screw in self-tappers
2. Put good tape around the pipes to build them up
3. Cable ties.

Had cable ties on and the boost gauge showed an increase.

I'll try pfte tape tomorrow.

I did put sealer on the pipes after my dad recommended this to me, I don't know will this hold up the 22psi it peaks at.

Ideally I would like to try tape and build it up to the right amount and get snug fit, make sure horse shoe clips are good and tight and then use self-tappers to stop the to and fro movement that slowly wears the lugs that the clips go behind.

I would maybe leave the screws as a last resort, if you get a good tight fit with the ptfe tape then that should minimise movement. And if any wear, the ptfe tape will wear away first before the lugs

vag revised the seals around the pipes a few times. better material/shape. buy new ones first. however it might be that the lugs are worn and its new pipe time. again these have been revised many times too.
