My engine bay is looking rather dirty  Whats the best/easiest way to clean it. Obviously i don't want to jet wash it and i don't think i can be bothered to start taking it all apart and clean pieces individually. So any ideas?

I jetwashed mine a few times. Will be doin it tomorrow as well. Just dont use too much water, just enough to wash/move any of the crap thats been taken off.

I used Autoglym Engine and Machine cleaner on a slightly warm engine then aggitate it with a stiff brush. My engine is pretty clean now, and i'm sure other people will agree to that. :D

i'm going to be using the machine cleaner as mentioned above as well. Very useful for the wheel arches too :D Just gotta get my hands on some at some point.

However, I have Meguairs Metal Polysh for the chrome bits, and just elbow grease at the moment!

Good stuff, the hard work will show after when you have a nice clean engine bay!

Yeah hope so, put a few blue vacuum hoses on today, think i may have got the bug for engine bay bling  Could be expensive!

lol. Thanks for that. Should be done within the next 2 months.

Oil catch tank, header tank, something special with the washer tank, possibly power steeriung tank, chromed strut, polished rocker and manifold, dipstick and i'm pretty much done.

That pic doesnt show the polished battery cover and new BMC filter. I'll clean it tomorrow and post some pics.

Think i saw a pic on here of your BMC, looks much cleaner than mine :( I really am bloody useless when it comes to cleaning parts people don't see. ALWAYS keep the outside of the car clean though, can't stand driving a dirty car around.

It doesnt take long to do the engine tbh, just get some cleaner or wd40 etc... spray it everywhere and get a stiff brush. Then i use vinyl and rubber care for all the black pipe work, the rag gets a bit wet then i wipe everything else down with it.

I also use autosol on anything shiny, the charge pipe is just elbow grease and autosol.

Cool, will definatly have a go at it sometime this week.

Got me one of these the other day, should come in handy now...

How much does it cost you to polish up the engine top and the bit the IC goes into?

depends where you go to get it done. :bleh:
you'll probably need to remove them from the car too - although i have heard of a few places doing them in situ but its definately harder to get to all the "nooks and crannies" (if they are even words lol)

My engine bay is poor. Flash saw it yesterday and nearly died, think the old wd40 and autosol will be coming out today. I like that Oil cap, seen a few of them, where from? Price??
