hey guys and girls, i've been looking at getting bigger brakes all round for my 1.8 20vt, now i've seen various ones for the front only like 6 pots etc
but has anyone seen a package for all four brakes, for around 312mm which i think is the biggest you can go on 17s isn't it??

i know awesome do fronts but cant find all fours package deal

all help greatly apprecaited [B)]

Hey,

You probably wont find a package for Front & Rear. Not off the shelf anyway.

You dont need to do much to the rear, if you go changing calipers at the rear you will upset the brake balance and havea dangerous car. Theres a good article on the stop tech website if i remeber correctly.

If you have to touch the rears, you only need to do the pads and possibly grooved discs. ECS Tuning do some Grooved, or Grooved & Drilled rotors with aluminum hats if you must, but they are too expensive compared to stock brakes and you will only be able to get new rotors from ECS. But then again you will be reducing unsprung weight by quite a bit.

As for Fronts, im sure youve seen plenty around, where you thinking bigger discs and better pads or did you also want to upgrade the calipers ?

cheers have lookd into it there is one's you can buy for the rear which are 308mm and combine that with the front which will be 312mm they reckon it will even things out this is on awesomes online store in which i saw them have a nose and see what you think but shame you cant buy an all round system..

308mm at the rear, with 312 at the front????? Kinda pushing ur luck IMO. Read the ECS website (they do the 308mm kit) and they recon that the fronts will need to be a MINIMUM of 323mm to keep things in balance.

It is highly recommended that when upgrading the rear brakes with the above kit that the front brakes have had rotor upgrades of 12.3” or larger. Not using this system with larger front rotors may create too much reward bias and degrade overall braking performance.

That means you'd be on the very limit of their recommendations - not sure what it'd feel like to drive?

not worth doing the rear for the money you would spend my car is 344 bhp and i dont need to do them and i only got the cupra ones.you doing it for looks or some thing.it would look the tits but thats it.

My mate runs in the VW Cup (running a Bora). The back brakes are standard Mk 4 Golf/Bora disks and pads because its the front that does all the work (6 pot Tarox calipers on 354mm AP disks in this case, with Ferodo DS3000 pads), with the rears just balancing things up and help keep the car flat when braking hard. Save your money for something else that might need improving.

ah i see so think i may only uprate the fronts now then just an idea though, and yes thought it would look the dogs bollox but may make the front end look good instead, cheers again
