I was wondering if anyone puts a bicycle in the back of their Leon?

On my Mk1 Leon, I can get my bike in with the seats folded down and the front wheel of the bike removed. Looking at the brochure, the hatch seems to taper inwards towards the bottom reducing the width.

Failing that, is it possible to fasten roof bars on? It's difficult to see in the brochure whether there are any mountings on the roof or not.

I put my 700c wheeled hybrid into the boot so I could get back from the dealer when I took my FR to get the alarm fixed. Not too difficult with front wheel off and rear seats down.

I can't find any listing for any Leon for a bike rack on there. I mean one for the back not a roof one. Though if that's my only option.... (not keen on roof racks).

Don't know if a rack will fit on the back due to the spoiler.

My Thule roof rack takes 5 minutes to fit. Only 4 bolts.

I guess a roof rack might be my only option. I don't like cornering with a bike on the roof though.

Anyway, those thule roof bars look ok. I used to have some thule bars on my old mini , worked ok.

Get a decent bike carrier like the Thule 591 and they'll slide into the groove you'll find in the top of the bar when you pull the black rubber strip out.

I've got OE Seat roof bars on my LCR and they fit really well (they're made by Thule) and I know if you buy Thule branded bars for the LCR they're a different fitting arrangement.

By the looks of the ones above on a Leon 2 they're now producing them exactly the same using the one fitting per corner so I'd go for them if they're cheaper.

Anyone now fitted Thule roofbars to a MKII Leon? I have an FR and am thinking of going down that route.
Cheers,
Chris.

I managed to get my 21" mountain bike in the back with the rear seats folded forward and the front wheel of the bike removed. The front seats didn't even have to move, and both seats are always right back on the rails. Not a problem at all... and the bike is much bigger than most.
