I'm looking into getting a bike as i need a bit of a lifestyle change, and was originaly thinking it would be relativly cheap. How wrong i seem to be!

I am assuming that the rear fitting bike racks aren't ideal for the Leon, so what are my options? Roof bars?

roof bars are the best - like this will make sure the bike is secure

i have one that i no longer use.boot mounted,no idea what you drive but drop me a pm if interested.

taking the wheel off is a 10 second exercise, and makes it much more stable.

if you clamp it to the downtube you run the risk of it flapping about/getting damaged.

probably a little beter for security too, maybe, whats the model of the one above

do you need to use roof bars aswell as the thule kit? pretty expensive way of lugging the bike around.
i just whip off the wheels and put it all in the boot these days :)bit of a bugger when its covered in mud though.

With the price of all of this i think it'll probably be best to just put it in the car and get some sheets or something to keep it clean!

The THule 511 is about £60-£70 depending, plus roof bars

Sheets & Tarps are cool, especially if you don't mind bikes getting scratched.

I use a set of generic roofbars I got off Ebay for £50 and a Thule bike rack. The latter my Dad gave me, as he got 3 off Ebay for 30-odd quid - always check Ebay, people let stuff go for silly money sometimes!
