Bit of advice?

After owning the car 3 months now its time to clean it up a little. The engine was in a bit of a state to put it politely , Really dirty & obviously never had been cleaned in all its life.

Anyway a mate of mine is a valeter for BMW who says he will steam clean my engine on saturday. Couple of people have told me to be careful steam cleaning.

Anyone had their engine done? Anyprobs with it?

If he is a valet for VW then i would guess he knows what he is doing, personaly i wouldnt because you have a bonnet, wheel arches and undertray to keep water out.

I know a few people who have had it done and had no problems.

Steam unlike just water isnt usuallly wet enough to cause problems.

Ive just heard that the high pressure steam can cause the dirty deposits to go into parts of engine & stuff which in therory could cause it to bugger the car?

However I dont know any other way to clean the hard to reach places better than a steam cleaner

Tescos jetwash, 5 mins with some halfrauds wheel cleaner and a brush and then use mineral wash (lower pressure) to rinse. That way you leave all the oily **** on tescos land and not your drive

Leave the engine running and dont point the lance at anything for too long, just enough to rinse.

I think aslong as you don't squirt water straight into the induction kit or flood the spark plugs you should be fine.

Yeah watch out for that, the enigne and plugs will take a bit of water but the MAF's dont even like air that much!!!!!

i realy wont m8, i use the steem cleaner at work,

i had a saxo vtr steem cleaned the engine bay n the altenateor up big style,

dont do it m8 could do alot of damage.

Yeah thats french sh*t!!!! They are allergic to water aren't they??? Give it a go. Once it's clean, keep it clean!!!! my brother uses a steam cleaner on his BMW and it's fine. as said just rinse don't focus on one point.

Fckin hell, Thats proper clean . Thats how clean Im aiming for with a little luck. Its just the once over with the Steam cleaner I wanna do, Once its clean Ill be able to keep it clean. Its just filthy from the previous owner who never looked after the car

No I wont, Its not me doing it anyway its my mate & hes a valeter anyway. Ill be with him whilst he does it keeping a watchful eye on him

a few people i know went to have this done [stem cleaned] at the dealers n they said that theres no way they would do it with out a signiture,,,,,,,ummmm do you think praps there not very conferdent in there work

no way id let any one else do it to mine other than me!

well we use it at work to clean the floor!!!!!!!!!!!!

i was speaking to the auto smart man on his van n asked him if he had anything to clean up engines ect.....he said that he use g101 on his motorbike n it bring it up v well

and hell yea it did
