As far as Im aware you get slightly quicker spool up but lose a small amount of torque , nothing considerable though. I'm only talking from experience of a pd130, which in that case more power was had by chopping off the backbox. And pretty sure Milltek are one of the well know brands for the pd decats.

Hmm, I'm not sure if I should bother with a decat or not then.

I'll have to have a think about it and search the net a bit more

Very tempting, especially the "less diesely" part. I was hoping I could find one a little less expensive as the turbo and intercooler have nearly wiped me out. I'm tempted at "gutting" the one fitted to the car but need to find someone to weld it back together!

if you do cut it from the top so when it goes back on mr mot man cant see the cut and to all intents and purposes still legal ;) buuttt id lose the backbox and keep the cat if it was me but everyones different and some hate the pidgeon noise etc.

Thanks guys, definitely something to think about. Car is in a million pieces at the moment so concentrating on putting at all back together and keeping fingers crossed it runs.
