Black Smoke after Remapping

Hi all
I have a Seat Ibiza Cupra 1.9TDi 160HP. Ive recently had a remap and now every time i get upto full throttle black smoke billows from the exhaust. Has anyone any suggestions how to cure this problem?

Welcome to the world of remapped diesels mate

On a more serious note if the smoke is very intense then the fuelling may be set far too high.
You'd prob lose some power to take that down a bit, but at least your won't be spilling soot out the back.

The 1.9 has no DPF, so that won't help matters either (good thing)

you could try some forte injection cleaner to help but it wont cure

The first map I had on my PD130 was like that, had it removed.

Went for a map elsewhere, very little if any smoke.

If it's been remapped properly it shouldn't be chucking out black smoke. Fuelling could be excessive at high revs / loads.

However, could be worth checking if you've got a boost leak somewhere that's opening up under high boost pressure resulting in the engine running rich (not enough air). Could be a small split in a pipe of a leaky joint.

The turbo pressure pipework is a bit of a nightmare on these engines. After various new o-ring seals and a new section of pipe I think I've finally got my ARL's pipework air tight, about 18 months after getting the car...
