Blower motor resistor ... Where is it???

I've come to replace the resistor and I can't seem to locate it. My Haynes manual is a joke and only has one sentence about it... Any ideas on where it is. I have my glove box in pieces

i think its part of the fan on this model? or it will be located very near

It will be very close to the fan, it will be stuffed into the fan ducting so that the fan cools the resistors.

I've had my glove box right out still no luck. From what I've worked out its above the blower motor , which for me is impossible to fit my arm in. Ended up slicing it to shreds trying lol

It'a actually inside the plastic pipe going to the central console, you can see the resistor if you take out the pollen filter, it's not so easy to change it (one torx screw from inside the pipe). The new (and hope so, improved version) that i bought had the fan connector on the opossite side, towards the engine bay, so it was a pain in the .... to install. But all the fan an ac problems were cured.

I had the pollen filter out and all I could see was a metal heat sink screwed in and the just ducting straight to the blower fans

What is the actual problem with your blower is it only running on full speed ? I think if I remember you take out the glove box and if you look to the top right with a torch you should see it there. It is a bit tight to get your hand in but it is possable to change it.

ive had the glove box right out. Cant see it at all. Fans are stuck on full blast all the time which I need to sort

sorry for the late reply, that metallic heat sink is the resistor pack. one connector on the top (behind the glove box) one screw from inside the plastic duct, lots of pulling once you disconnect and unscrew, some cuts and sore hands and the resistor is out. you change the whole thing including the heatsink (one piece) it's a bit of a tight squeeze but if you try hard it will come out the pollen filter slot

My resistor has a round top like the haynes manual shows like this... Is this the right one?

I have climatronic too. Do you think I need a diff one... I was told this is the one I need

I don't know, this one connects with the climatronic in the central console with a wide connector with multiple wires, two wires red and black comes out of the aluminum thing fan controler and goes to the fan behind the glovebox, i changed it myself and i didn't see any part looking like the one on your picture. the part number on mine is 6Q2907521.

This one was useful.
I have problems with my climatronic, sometimes it blows on full speed, sometimes on half of it, even if it's set to the full power, etc..and it won't blow unless it's set to full power.
I assume it's resistor to be changed.

Yes Ill put up a guide when I swap it over this weekend (depending if I get the part) ask for it to be made a sticky ,as Ive seen 10 + un answered threads on here. It seems the pollen filter is the cause of it , getting clogged up and the resistor not getting cooled.

Hi Guys
Just registered because of this problem with my missus car, 55 plate Ibiza 1.9tdi. I've been upside down in the footwell and got the inside of the back of the glove box off and can't see what I'm looking for. Will take the pollen filter out and have a route around.

if you take the pollen filter out you will see a silver heat sink in that area as cmp3 has said. Mine had it there I just didnt realise what it was due to being given the wrong resistor for my car (N)
