mine seems to be doing similar stuff! i am loosing oil, there is a small amount of blue/white smoke when the turbo boosts! when i start my car it - almost everytime there is a massive plume of grey smoke, mainly when it hot! it also has a very destinctive strong smell.

i am taking the turbo off this week to see if there is any damage/ seal porblems!

i am also thinking that there could b a small amount of oil leaking through the seals if i dont let the turbo stop spooling when i turn the car off! i am goin to try and leave the car idle for 10second before i turn it off! maybe a turbo timer could solve my problem!

if the seals have gone will i see oil on the impellor wheel? or wat would i see?

Hi, mine started with blue/grey smoke even under light acceleration, but i did a 20min track session which probably finished it off. a couple of days later it went completely!
When they took off the intake hose to the turbo, you could feel the impeller wobbling on its shaft, so defo torbo gone on mine.

Hi, yes i toyed with several options, before speaking to chap called Matt Waterman at Turbodynamics who was excellent, really helpfull in helping me diagnose the problem, and guiding me on a replacement. In the end i went for the Hybrid stage 2 turbo which has uprated internals and slightly larger compresser wheel, cos of my remap. I am also going to put a de cat on and probably a complete exhaust as mine is full of old engine oil from the turbo failure. Then at least ant future upgrades will be easier. Hopefully this hybrid unit will be more reliable at running the higher boost pressures i am generating.

Can't recommend "Turbodynamics" highly enough, very professional!!

just a little update, i have sent the turbo back and the ppl @ cr turbo and they have said that the turbo is fine, however there was lots of oil in the turbo and in the intercool & pipework.

I have disconnected the top engine breather pipe but the oil is still being forced thru the turbo into tho boost pipes/ intercooler, giving me lots of smoke and poor engine runningconditions

anybody have any idea what my problem could be?
