Any more updates on your issue regarding blue smoke mattyboy1. I changed my oil on my cupra and the problem seemed to go away or was not as noticeble. But recently about 3000 miles after oil change it seems to be becoming an issue again.

Hasn't really done it for ages then the other day I started the car sat there for a minute or two then drove prob 700 yards stopped at the traffic lights sat there for a minute no smoke then all of a sudden it started smoking think it more white smoke than blue though. But if you sit there and rev it to 2000rpm it stops. Then the lights changed I drove off and it didn't do it again all day. It's weird. I'm not using oil or water and there not mixing. I've got excellent compression. So not sure what it is really

Bit puzzled myself aswell realy changed the oil on my cupra and it was fine for 3000 miles but it is becoming a problem again. I have had a compresion test performed and all was ok. Im thinking towards posibly stem oil seals but im woried that if its not then its a waste of £700 maybe more.

Sory my bad think are symptoms are different. My leon will smoke on cold start after being left for say 12 hours also if warm and i leave to idle for a couple min and tap the throttle i wil get blue smoke. I am confused as to y after changing the oil it has been ok for 3k.i also thought if was vavle stem oil seals that it would happen every time i start the car from cold. But it doesnt always happen.???

I'm in need of some advice please, have a mk1 lean cupra, on start up no smoke at all but when get to normal temperature she starts to smoke blue only on acceleration and not when driving I have notice I have a small oil leak but haven't had the chance to see where it's coming from
Thanks in advance Stephen

Is your motor modified at all do you have standard exhaust etc

and when you get the blue smoke does it pour out the back end on a pull or just a puff on initial acceleration.

Sounds familiar to when I had my Leon
I took the TIP off to see If the compressor wheel had much play but there wasn't much . keep an eye on your oil consumption that is important and monitor for a bit .
when I fitted a decat to my Leon it smoked a fair bit I put the standard cat back on in the end . Could have been turbo or valve seals didn't want to fork out for one if it may have been the other .

I'm not loosing oil I'm checking it all the time I would imagine I'd loose some anyway due to the oil leak I've got, I'm hoping it Les not the turbo or valve stem seals

May be worth a shout its to do with back pressure having a decat may show a bit of a leaky turbo . Reinstalling your cat may mask the bit of play you may have in your turbo if it's the problem.

My car with the symptoms I had ran like it for 4 years and never let me down so I wouldn't worry to much. Keeping an eye on your oil consumption is a good idea though .

blue smoke is more likely exhaust valve stem seals, white smoke is turbo seals (unburnt oil and smells of oil)
