Yeah, that would be perfect.

Do you have any other ICE in the car, particularly amplifiers? Reason I ask, is Becker units require an optional lead if you need pre-outs. No problem if you don't of course :)

Totally standard mate - but I take it I need some extra stuff for this to work ? i.e. face plate, adapter cable ?, Ipod lead ? etc

Then again, for the price, I could buy a new parrot car kit for less than half that...............

I need a lottery win for the stuff I need to do to my car - still waiting for a cheaper alternative to the full Sachs clutch kit - thats around £700, but I cant afford it at the min :(

To fit any aftermarket head unit properly, you need a fascia blanking plate and a powered aerial adaptor. Total cost around £20.

To add an iPod you'll need the relevant lead for that brand of head unit, the cost of which varies from one brand to the next. Budget £50 though.

Looks like things have improved somewhat in recent time then regarding the microphone. The earliest Pioneer and a later Sony I installed had an integrated mic in the unit, so good to see that's changed :)

If the phonebook limitations are addressed too, the future looks good for this sort of thing. To be honest, the only head unit I'd change mine for is a Bluetooth Becker, so I do hope they sort the phonebook out :D

The Becker does have an external Mic, looks like a little computer mouse

Becker units in the past could always be used with VAG CD Changers, but I'm not sure if that still stands as it's been a while since I last tried. Keep meaning to give it a go on mine but never get round to it!

I like the look of that Pioneer one, quite cheap to at £175 !!

Hows the sound quality of the phone ? I take it if you get a call it will cut out the radio/CD

Have a look at that user manual I posted the link to above. Near the end of it should be the installation instructions, which will no doubt contain a picture of it :)

£170 more for a unit with navigation. Not sure if I will use it enough to justify it.

Plus I have access to a Garmin I can stick to the windscreen anyway.

The Becker stand alone navigation units look quite nice, but that would mean cluttering up the dash board.

Dont tempt me! Becker Grand Prix and 80gb Ipod plus connection lead...............this could be the most expensive lunch time ever. Must resist the urge, mmuuussstttt resist!!

Or is resistance just futile?

Totally futile... you should give in and allow yourself to be drawn into a world of relaxing, HiFidelity music with stock-looking appearances that deceive the eye

:D

.....I currently have a parrot ck3100, which is great, although I would prefer something slightly more stealthy.....
Cheers :)

Yeah cuts whatever is playing through the speakers, rings with your normal tone through the speakers, answer key on the facia, then the sound reproduction is great, both for me and the person i'm speaking to...apparently anyway! I thought it was a bargain...got a free crimbo bag of sweets out of CAD too...bonus!

Oh also Pioneer provide bullet connectors on the power wires, so you don't need the adapter for VAG cars!

Looks great that.

I am looking at getting a CK3000 Evolution. I like the look of the install you have. How did you do it? Anything special.

The Beckers look a good peice of kit but I already have sat nav on my Dell PDA. Might look at a second hand CD unit on ebay though, either Mexico Pro or grand Prix.
