Hello

I have the bluetooth kit fitted in my FL Leon. I have just bought a Sony Ericsson Xperia X10, I can call from it using the handset and receive calls. But I cannot get my contact data on the MDF, or dial using the steering controls.

Has anyone managed to get around this, or have I made a bad choice by getting a non compatible phone? If this is the case would speaking to SEAT about this be worth doing? The phones that are on the Bluetooth compatibility list are mostly older phones...

Cheers

S.

cant imagine they update the kit as often as companies such as parrot although i imagine a quick call to seat uk will be able to tell you or whether there are any updates available

Sadly, I doubt talking to Seat would help. They will essentially blame and phone and Sony will most likely blame the car. There *may* be a software update to the Bluetooth which helps, but don't hold your breath.

I gave up trying to solve a problem I have where my iPhone 3GS intermittently disconnects apparently at random. Neither Apple or Seat were able to do much other than tell me to install the latest updates (which I did) or buy a new phone/car (which I did not).

I hope you have more luck than I did!

Good News!!!

Driving home last night, I recived a call and the name of the person that called me popped up how it is stored in the phone. So it now works fine. Strange how it didnt for about 30Miles.

Glad I havent got to contact eithe rparty :)

Glad it's working OK for you now. It does take a few minutes to sync the phonebook and stacks with the car. Then every time you connect it might take a few seconds for recent calls etc to be available, while it syncs the names/numbers.

When I got my new Leon FR in March I got one with the the bluetooth option but my current phone (3 year old LG Prada) only has limited compatability, and so I have not really made much use out of the bluetooth.

I have considered getting a new phone, but what annoys me is that the SEAT Blutooth Compatabilty list has not been updated since january. Even then it was a rather limited and out of date list. So many new updated versions of phones have come onto the market since January and so a large number of the phones on the list, are no longer available.
If I'm buying a new mobile I want one that is up to date but also one that is completely campatable with Seat bluetooth. i don't want to buy a new expensive phone only to find that it does not work with my bluetooth.

I am having a similar problem with my Bluetooth (FL FR) I recently changed from an iPhone 3G to a HTC Desire. It worked fine with the iPhone but I am having the random disconnects that you have described :(

I tried another phone (nokia) and it worked flawlessly, so I reckon that the phones are the problem. Is the Xperia X10 an Android handset?

I factory reset the phone and it worked ok for a couple of days and then started again. T-mobile blame the car, Seat blame the phone, HTC don't want to know :(

Yeah it is, I'm on my second one already :)

Does the SEAT BT have the option to "forget" devices. For example my old phone now belongs to a member of my family, and my new phone is registered with the car. Which mobile will it pick up? or will it pick both up?

Not sure if you can forget individual devices but I'm pretty sure you can clear the car's pairing memory somehow (I think I read that in the manual, but not 100% sure).

As for the multiple phone question, the car will always try to connect to its list of paired devices from the most-recently paired phone backwards... so if you have both phones within range, your new phone will connect but if you only have your old phone, it'll still connect with that. You can't connect multiple phones at once though.

I've been doing some searching around, and found this thread on a Jaguar forum.

There is a mention of random disconnecting, and that one guy solved this by turning off background data. Not had the chance to try it on my phone yet to see if it makes any difference.

The option on my phone is in settings > accounts and sync and there is a checkbox for background data. Should be similar on other android handsets.
