Just fitted a BMC/CDA air filter. What a difference this makes! The responce is much crisper - the dump valve is now audible from inside the car not to mention the throaty roar on full throttle. **'e been told my next move is to de-cat the exhaust to get the full benefit of the engine breathing in and out properly. What do you think?

You can't just de-cat your car unfortunately. You can only do this if you have a suitable remap that gets rid of the sensors on the exhaust. If you don't and you de-cat a standard car, you'll get the CEL light.

Plus there are mixed opinions on the benefits of de-catting. I know of one member, ArosaRacer I believe, who has a de-cat and loves it (as far as I can tell from forum posts). And recently BigLad de-catted and lost a lot of performance, that came back when the cat was re-fitted.

I got the BMC/CDA kit from Ad - Trader for £40. What a steal! Maybe go for a forge 007p next then the new RS6 wheels.

you'll also have problems when you go for your MOT, the catalyst removes a lot of the harmful emissions for the exhaust gasses, remove the cat and your almost definately going to fail the emissions test.

Unless your a diesel. they only have a smoke test.
