The liked the styling but were a bit disapointed its basically a cupra/FR with a few stlying bits. They drove both the cupra and FR and said there was a noticeable difference in straight line pace but the FR handled better as the cupra suspension was too stiff and relied on the tyres too much.
Long and short is they said buy the FR and then getting it remapped to a cupra spec engine.

Looks good o the move.

I am geting the fr next week. I will be using it as a city car so i do not want the stiff suspension of the cupra. Also my dealer told me that a Bocanegra style bodykit will be available for cupra and fr later.
Also about remap. The dsg used in fr/cupra can handle 250nm torque so for the cupra it is on its limits and you cannot get any more power out of it. Remaping the fr to cupra will possibly be an option from Seat as the engines are the same.

Looking at REVO and Superchips' websites it looks as though both engines will re-map to about 205bhp. Whether the clutches can handle the torque is another thing and no doubt the tuners will be looking closely at the engines and 'boxes very soon.

The only advantage I can see that the Cupra gives over the FR is the black headlining!

Im also worried about it. The engine is fine but the gearbox can handle only 255nm.

But,
See this http://img242.imageshack.us/img242/9577/golf6abttuning.jpg
Its a golf with dsg7.

Also read this from another forum;
''just been speaking to the helpful people at Revo Technik.
They said that the DSG gearboxes can take much more than the imposed torque limit of 250Nm on the 7 speed DSG and 350Nm on the 6 speed DSG.
It is possible to trick the ECU and the TCM (Traction Control Module) into thinking the engine is producing less than the imposed torque limits to stop the ECU limiting the engine power. However all the power and torque is still delivered at the wheels.
It is all very technical but I am assured that a 7 speed DSG box can be tuned to 205hp and 270nm quite happily, and use all this power and torque without hitting the TCM limiter. This same rule goes for the 6 speed DSG box (for all you 2.0 GT chaps out there).
If you need anymore info, i'd give Revo a call as he did say SOME tuners aren't bypassing the TCM and thus the cars are hittng the TCM limiter.''
