can I ask what " a little bit smokey " means ? I know its tricky to describe exactly....when I give my mk5 full beans, it leaves a dark grey cloud..infact, its getting so bad i can see it when accelorating with meadium throttle..

after 3500 rpm on mine its puts out a black cloud lol. But it will be less on new map. I sort of enjoy it, leaving cars behind you in a black cloud. Sort of adds insult to injury when they get whipped by a diesel. 
have you given it some stick yet ? 2nd and 3rd. 3rd being most important as its the quick gear for me.
not really.. the weather hear yesteday was unreal just to wet to even tap the accelerator as you would know it just spins,lol. so cant wait for a dry bit of road to appear

oh no big clouds behind just a lil puff, was behind my mates stock audi a3 170tdi an his gives a lil puff so theres nothing to be worried about at all
ah, ok. Do you put this down to a good map ? or good fuel ( Tesco is nearest me hence its what it tends to get )

Yer id say the map... i sometimes use the dreaded supermarket fuel but get mixed opions so i just go where ever to be honest.. but the millers diesel sport 4 addivtive is raved about on these forums so im using that now.

It is and it isnt. Once remaped it happens all the time, 2nd and 3rd dry or wet. But its just a little reminder that you have the power there.

i could use that excuse - my car is 4 and a bit years old, 72k, been back to VW 50+ times with problems...went last week where a need for a new wiring loom was diagnosed 
and now the washer reservoir bottle has split.....
