That be brilliant if you can do that. Just want the gauge to light up when I turn on my lights. Dont want it lit up constantly.

Well i used a switch live , i used my electricians voltage pen and lights up and off with the toggle switch for the lights ... So that would be a switch live ... That's what i used and it worked

So your boost gauge will only be on when the lights are on???? A switched live, means a live that is only live when the ignition is turned on. There should be one on that plug.

Boost gauge lights will only be on when my lights are on IE headlights im talking about ... Why would i want the lights for the boost gauge on during the day .... When your switching the lights on IE when u turn that switch to right ,, the switch live go down to the headlights which is what i have joined into for the LIGHTS on my boost gauge ... They are not permanently fed as they would be continuously on

You never specified. I now realise you have a mechanical boost gauge, with wiring for lights. My mistake, i should have known that.

Looks like it lights up when on a live connection. Could I just use that to see which wire goes live when the light switch is on ?

What gauge is it you have ? I've recently fitted one with only black and red wires...although my gauge is lit up when ignition is on ( gauge is completely black when not lit up unable to see anything) wired it up nicely and works with dimmer.

Was just off eBay and only has the two wires unlike alot of the threads on here which have 3. Not too fussed if its lit up all the time but would be nice so it only lit up when I turned on my lights. It has a white face so during day its easy to see.

Understood. No that it's much help but whilst I was wiring it up trying to get it to work i did get mine to light up just on lights. But no idea what it was.
Mine are:
Black to brown.
Red to blue/grey... you should try the other half colour ones... It doesn't do the wires and issues if you have the time..I crimped all my wires before finding the correct one :/...
