Understood. No that it's much help but whilst I was wiring it up trying to get it to work i did get mine to light up just on lights. But no idea what it was.
Mine are:
Black to brown.
Red to blue/grey... you should try the other half colour ones... It doesn't do the wires and issues if you have the time..I crimped all my wires before finding the correct one :/...
Does this method of wiring it have the light on all the time ?

Yeah, this way the light is on the second I turn on the ignition. But like I said for my gauge I have to have it that way.

If I were you I'd get some crimps and try on each wire. Black to brown earth's it anyway.so that can be same on yours.

Then all I did was go through each wire..I'm sure whilst I was going through I remember a half grey/half something else wire made the gauge lights come on only when I turned on my lights. Sorry I can't be any more specific

Cheers !! I'll give it ago when I've got my air vent all prepped for my gauge.

Ahh going through your vent... I chose the pillar option ...still, very simple to feed the vacuum hose through :).. if you need any help just shout ;)

Yeh going to the centre airvent to be abit different ha. Just making a housing to hold the gauge in the vent at moment a bit more tricky than I thought it would be.

Ah nice, Will look smart, You can buy the vent pods online real cheap, about a 10er i think. If doing it yourself is too much of a pain

Any body who wanting to know how to wire the gauge up with just a live and earth. I used the purple and grey wire for live and brown is negative. Works just fine I'll post some pictures when I've got my custom vent pod all complete.

Finished the gauge now and it looks good. I'll add a few picture below. Wired it first into the headlights but soon realised it was like Blackpool illuminations in my car at night so rewired it to the dimmer switch and its resolved that problem, just has to have the back light on all time which am not too fussed about.
