I have fitted my FMIC and now when I accelerate it gets to 5000rpm drops boost, then kicks back in again and then the engine management light flashes numerous times, and then its fine.
Has anyone any ideas? the only thing I have changed is the intercooler.
All I can think of is set-up? or adjusting boost to compensate for the additional pipework fitted for the intercooler?
I have check over for boost leaks and for any vacuum leaks and couldn't find any at all.

HELP!!! lol

Hmm..i've just fitted my front mount and haven't had any problems at all..sure its not a leak?? Soapy water on all the joins and stuff to make sure??? Run it at 5k on idle and check then??

Map sensor on the plastic pipe that runs under the subframe on the n/s of the car? Got the car on a ramp and stood underneath feeling all the connections whiles someone was in the car reving it to check for leaks. No noise came off and i couldnt feel any air coming out? Tricky one

Yeah your hand isn't going to find a leak mate, need to smoke test or as said soapy water on all joins then run it and look for bubbles, there's a plug sensor on your pancake pipe bottom right under subframe, is that still plugged in?

Could just be the fact a coil pack has popped just a coincidence have you scanned it for codes?

Work at a garage so can soon sort that but theres no boost leak down lower end revs, boosts up fine and sits there untill it hits 5000-5500rpm, sometimes it doesnt do it though. just plugged it in on snapon solus and it comes up with 02 sensor bank 1 and engine missfire cylinder 2, from experience with boosted cars boost leaks happen right through the revs? And missfire would possibly lead to coil pack but wouldnt that usually show up on fault codes? Just replacing all the vacuum pipes as we speak for the n249 valve and so on as it looks like someones used diesel leak off pipe for that :s loland yea that sensors deffo plugged in, just checked :)

Wel I'm currently suffering with a missfire between 4500-5k my codes telling me ecu fault but I'm hoping coil packs even though its not brought a code up for one.

If its giving you a code for missfire in cylinder 2 then there's your answer lol coil pack number 2 or spark plug.

Its just had a new coil pack on cylinder 2 aswel :s last owner bought it just before i got it about a month ago. And to be fair its only since ive had the intercooler fitted that its done this. So i will double check tomorrow for boost leaks again and see what happens then i think. Cheers for all the replys though :) good luck withbyours aswell ;)

Have you plugged into any diagnostics? Sounds like a boost pressure exceeding kinda fault? Especially as you say about em light.

My **** map does it sometimes but it then goes into limp mode

Sorry read the first few comments and got carried away hah. Still sounds like an over boost issue. Isit mapped?

Its alright mate :) ermm its not mapped that i know of, bought it as a standard car from what i gathered, not been messed with from what i can see aswell as all the engine ect all looks well intact if you get what i mean? Lol i thought it was somat to with a overboost issue aswell, as it cuts out, and there is no missfire. Ile be fitting a boost gauge tomorrow so i shall se what thats says aswell and hopefully give me an idea of what its doing.

Hmmmm, well as you said before there may not be enough boost to fill all your new pipe work lol
Sounds like traction control but doubt it spins up to much being standard? :)
Yeah boost gauges aren't a great fault diagnoser.

You say it cuts out, do you let off and it dies? Or just takes your throttle off you until th engines slower?

If you were closer mate I'd say pop down always easier when you can see what's going on.

Possibly a worn divertor or valve? Can't hold the peak boost.

Yea just going to fit that to see what the boost is doing that way i see wether or not its overboosting, no worries i will have to see what I can sort :) hopefully just a overboost issue though. Wish the tractioon light did kick in when it does it in 3rd, would mean some big power ;) haha

Ha no big power if its not mapped lol 6psi and 150bhp ;( when I fitted an Fmic to my old Ibiza (standard unmapped) it never caused an issue. As for the earlier quote of its had a new coil pack already before you bought it, coil packs on these have been known to fail within weeks of fitting a new one.

What makes me think its not the coils is the fact it ran pefect before i fitted the intercooler and now it does this intermittent fault? Ive changed numerous coil sticks on 20vt's before and the symptoms I had then dont match the ones i have on my car :s its not even like a missfire, its more of a smooth drop of the boost and then it sort of tries to rev but theres no power there. And it does'nt do it every time which is wierd? Lol
