Boot Hump with 18's sorted?

I sent my dealer a list of my requirements for my next Leon, should I go for a Leon, and also a lost of questions one of which was what are Seat doing about the ridiculous boot issue with the optional 18 inch wheels. He said this issue is now resolved. Anybody including any dealers able to confirm this? And if so what have they done to resolve it

Ahh right well that is interesting as the first line of Facelift FR had a shocking hump in the boot to cover the spare wheel. There are some pics on here somewhere, but as the dealer said, it must of been sorted

I saw the 'hump' on the demonstrator i had, it wasn't good. I was assured when I ordered my new FR that it will have a space saver wheel.

Sounds like it has been sorted then, I think it would of cost them alot of sales had they not sorted it.

For those that hadn't seen it, imagine the current size boot with a 4 inch raised section the diameter of a 18inch wheel!

We've had a communication via SEAT's intranet system that there were a total of 160 FR's with 18" alloys that had a misbuild problem where they had a full size spare and raised carpet, for anyone who has had a car delivered with this they should contact their supplying dealer who can put in a claim to SEAT and will be able to swap it. SEAT have said that the car shouldn't have covered more than 600 miles (what a bloody stupid stipulation, if the wheel hasn't been used why does it matter!) but I'm sure any self respecting dealer will find a way around this.

By the way, as its the supplying dealer who has to carry out the claim isn't this a good illustration of why buying from, and building a relationship with your local dealer is a good idea instead of simply buying from the cheapest on-line supplier? Who wants to drive from say London to Scotland or vice versa just to get a spare wheel changed over.

Surely you'd keep the full size spare and just buy a space saver - otherwise you're doing yourself out of a spare alloy?

Well i've only done 300 miles so will be in touch with the dealer tomorrow to get it flattened

LMFAO ! i call that more than a misnuild problem , just goes to show their quality control is on siesta when they should be checking cars

Well I went to my dealer today and initially it was turning into a farce as the service receptionist said that they would change the full size steel spare for a space saver but when I also mentioned the carpet would also need changing she said that the carpet was not part of the problem! After asking her to read the bulletin again carefully she said the carpet would also be changed.

So hopefully sometime next week i'll get my hump removed

The wheel supplied is a steel one which although a lot bigger than a spacesaver isn't the same as the 18's, also the carpet is moulded to fit it (as mentioned by someone else on here) so both need changing.

Had my wheel replaced this morning and new carpet fitted

So now I have a hump free car
