boot rattle possible lock?

when driving around i hear a rattle coming from what sounds like the boot lock as though its not locked properly. any ideas how to assess this? ive taken spare wheel, tools and anything lose out to remove those as a possibility.

The rod connecting the handle to the lock can rattle. I covered mine in grease to stop it, but it came back eventually

well its definately my lock i drove around for bit with boot open and rattle was gone.

Mine was rattling where the connecting rod pivots (circled). It looks like it's worn away to where it can rattle from from to side.



Haven't fixed it mind It's just another rattle to add to the existing hundred!

(the arrow is there just to indicate the movement of the rod when you open the boot. The rattle is caused by the circled part moving side to side).

Yes mate. From memory; there's a screw in the grab handle, and then 1 under each removable cover where the lights are. Then there's 2 (I think) underneath the cover where the boot catch is.

After they're all removed, you can pull the panel off. You'll find that the majority of the metal clips will remain in place and bits of plastic will break off randomly. The clips will need pulling back out with some pliers, which is usually a pain in the ass.

finally got the panel of only snapped one of the clips, had a look and the rattle comes from the same place, the connecting pivot point. couldnt be asked to fix it so put cover back on with now two lose clips. in future if something is rattling ill leave it until it breaks.

i havent repaired anything, did one better took it to my local seat dealer and traded it in for a 2007 cupra for just 1000 part ex couldnt say no.

couldnt say no had everything cruise control, steering controls which ive linked to my phone already, and one of the multimedia systems. but more importantly not a single rattle or squeak as of yet atleast.

I have the same rattle lol, doing my nut in. Didn't realise what it was till I read this thread.
