Hey people,

I am thinking of installing a bose setup into my FR.
Anyone had any experience of this at all?

What i will have is (everything bose)... 2 tweeters, 4 x 6.5inch speakers, a sub complete with amp.
I dont want the chavvy nodding head in McDonalds car park sound, just a better quality crisper sound when listening to music. I would also like to try and keep it VAG style (hence the bose).

As i fighting a loosing battle trying to fit a complete new system? or is it ok to do? Any help, tips, guides would be great! I did do a search on the site but didnt really come up with anything of any use to me.

I've got bose in the house and they sound great. Where you getting this kit from? Only seen their headunit. I've upgraded every speaker in my Ibiza at the moment took me best part of a day, but it much easier to remove all the tims first before starting, instead I did it in stages, front, then back. I would have been better to.. remove all trimming from the drivers side and wire it in that way. Then the the passenger side.
Rattles from the crossovers and be a real pain.

I would suggest for the best quality sound carrying out some sound deadening in car perhaps Dynamat. Expensive but worth it in the long run. Then you will really get the benefit of the high quality Bose Speakers.

Yeah you will Definitely especially with a quality brand such as Bose. Alpine are also a very good make

Why go for bose in car? They are custom designed for the acoustics of the model it will be expensive and hard to get hold of bose gear i would think. You dont need to sell me on the quality of the product (im well untruly sold with acoustics 3 speakers on my mac, Original Wave cd/radio & some 17yr (ish) old stand alone self powered speakers which are all brilliant products) but i really think you would be better off going Alpine for example and using the difference for the head unit as this is the week link. You can get some very OEM looking units too.......

lol mate over on talk audio people are doing the opposite of you. They are getting rid of the bose stuff as quite frankly its way overrated. Guy with an A3 went with rainbow amps and components iirc.

Your best bet is to come up with a budget and then asking for advice. If you want real good SQ then there are much finer things in life then bose, and it will most likely be cheaper also ;)

I wanted rainbows but the shop had non in stock and the money was burning a hole in my pocket.

I have got some rainbow 3-way components that are awaiting to be fitted into my new beeza from my old corsa. I love the speakers, absoloutely awsome and cost alot of money, Just dont think they will fit with out modding the door trims:cry:!
Anyone think they will fit?

I have never had normal components, can 2-way components be as good as 3-way or maybe even better?? Just asking in case i need to do away with my rainbow 3-ways?

not gone 3 way myself, but thats only because i know it's harder to setup... my get tricky if you are looking for SQ

Swings and roundabouts.. 2way.. easier to get right.. 3 way setup right will showup a 2 way...

But there again, if it has 3ways as stock, and you have no intention of messing around with custom builds and aiming everything perfect, I'm sure you'd be happy with a relativly straightforward upgrade to 3ways with a passive x/over

So in essence seeing as you already have the 3 ways, if you take it to a pro to install that is highly regarded in the audio scene 3 way will be superior, but if you dont have the time or money for the 3 way to be installed it might be worthwhile selling them and getting 2 way comps. To most a good quality set of 2 ways will rock their world. Just depends on how high a standard you have when it comes to audio.

Thats the thing i have a very high standard when it comes to music in the home and car. Got a fulll rainbow and focal setup in my corsa which i was hoping to get into my ibiza. Its just the front 3-ways that im worried wont fit due to space.
When you say a pro have you got any recommendations of people who could install it or atleast tell me whether it can be done without door moulds?
Cheers

If anyone can recomend any audio specialists or pros who are highly regarded and might be able to help me please let me know. REALLY NEED HELP!
Thanks alot

we had a leon at work the other day and i noticed it had a bose system all round it to me personaly it was crisp and went plenty loud enough for me if bose were crap why would all the new audis have them? if you want a *boyaka boyaka* system then im sure theyre no good but to me they are plenty

but the head unit is the weak point and will need replacing if thats what you want
