Brake Disc Change

I have the 1.9TDI Leon Pre FL and was wondering would I be able to put 288mm brake discs on the front instead of the 280mm standard ones without any other modifications?

I has a similar questions when I replaced my discs. My mechanic informed me there would be difficulty in fitting it - something to do with calipers not being the right size?

However I put new Pagid pads and discs on and the difference was huge.

Not as far as I'm aware, though someone more knowledgeable than me may come along later.

Even if they fit you won't gain anything from changing to the larger disc. The pad contact area will be the same and you'll just end up with a massive lip around the edge of the disc.

I realised that and have now scrapped the idea. Thanks for confirming it
