Brake Pad Warning Light

Hi,

my warning light for worn brake pads has just come on, does this mean they have no wear left on them or that they are getting low?

I'm just about to part chop my LCR so ideally want to avoid changing them just to pass on to a dealer.

Alternatively is there a way of making the warning light go off so they don't spot it when I take the car to part ex?

cheers

Ideally you are supposed to change them before you get the light on, if its going to be very soon, chance the part ex first.

If you look at the brake pads on the nearside front wheel, you'll see one pad has two little wires coming out of it that go up to a plug on the damper. Cut the wires at the pad, join them together and the light will go out.

reg, im not so sure about cupra r's but on the cupra the wear indicator is activated when you are through the pad and onto the backing, youre better just trading the car into the dealer and after the handshake, mention it.

Soz for the thread hacks

Humm had my service done on my LC about 7 months ago and it was noted that my pads needed changing soon... they told me that i had about 5k left on them?

Can any one recommend what make of pads i should buy, how much and best places to buy from.... ?

Cheers

Its exactly the same, when the pad wears down to a certain thickness it breaks the contact and makes the light come on. Joing the two wires together again completes the circuit and puts the light out, which is what he wanted. I don't think its a good idea without changing pads, but thats up to him!

I just know this from when I fitted my DS2500's.
