Just noticed this on my car also. Still in warranty. Just about. So they did cover it under warranty for you Lykaios? I've got a small list of things for the dealer to sort now so I guess I'll add this to it.

Yeah, they covered it. The new light also has a new spray nozzle as well, so rather than a dribble down the window, it sprays instead.

Welcome to broken additional brake light owners club :)

1) My first light was broken. But they did not change it under warranty. They said someone tried to steal it and broke it. And my car would be the first car that the lamp would be changed. They did not know how to change. So I bought and changed myself using elsawin. It is very easy.

2) Second light was broken again 2 months before. They did not changed it under warranty again. Because I changed ti myself not at service.

3) I bought the third lamp. I uninstalled the broken light and gave the third lamp to them. They installed. Now they know the continuum. They did it with registration. So if it happens again they will change in under warranty.

In Turkey it costs 30 pound including fitting in Seat authorized service.
Wait.what? U changed 3brakes lights so far?are u kidding me? :)

I got a mail from the dealer today saying that they will sort the light under warranty. Happy days :0)

Evening all,

The high-level brake light lens has cracked clean through on my 63 plate FR where the washer nozzle is. Booked it into the dealers who said that there was no evidence of a manufacturing defect and therefore must have occurred due to 'outside influence'. As a result the repair fee was £73 which I declined.

Before I send an email to UK customer services, has anyone else seen this? There's no visible damage to the surrounding boot spoiler or evidence of a stone chip, but the edges of the lens do appear to be crazed. Perhaps due to thermal expansion?

Cheers,

Andy
Exactly the same problem. Looks like you have the Teknic Grey car as well. Cracked right through the Washer pipe. Definitely a design fault. Have contacted Seat UK to ask for repair on said light. Will let you know if I'm successful. So angry at this as it's an obvious flaw in the design.

Me too. Under warranty. make sure you get a dealer who knows what they are doing with the special tool. It takes minutes. Mine tried to remove it from the inside , took the interior trim out, broke that and mangled the lamp itself.

And btw , I was told by the warranty manger that I had tried to take it out myself to "change a bulb". Nice to know that he was well trained and experienced in the vehicles in his franchise especially those with LED strips

See my other posts for reasons to avoid this dealership in Brighton. Now been successfully several times to a new dealership in Copthorne: recommended

When mine was replaced they removed the interior trim and broke some of the clips which caused a lovely rattling. Had to buy new clips to fix it. They did do the light under warranty though. So there is that I suppose.

The dealer did indeed replace mine under warranty. They initially suggested that I must have broken it but when pressed they swapped it for free.

I have 3rd light going, none of them went to warranty.
Two times they have said it has been caused by external force, hit or something so no warranty issue.
This 3rd one i replaced my self, and it was PITA to get the old one out...

Had this replaced on my 2014 FR, dealers initial response was looks like external force, but I argued it would hard to get hit hard enough to crack without any damage to surrounding bodywork. I suspect it cracked during winter, water in/around the nozzle freezes and cracks the surround.

I also had the cracked rear lights and dealer replaced high level at same time as doing the rear lights as a good will gesture.

That's a distinct possibility. Maybe filling the hole with silicone would stop the water getting in. Might also strengthen the area if it's just vibration that is breaking the light at a weak point.

I was asked by the dealership if I had used Volkswagon approved washer fluid. Have you ever heard of anything so petty. Told them to take a hike and will be taking it further. Absolute disgrace.

Sorry to bring up an old post I have recently noticed this on my fr and also the light has gone dim, where’s the best place to order it from the stealers and fit it yourself if so is it difficult?
Cheers

HAve a look at the old thread. You'll find lots of help there as to whether it's easy or not. Counter intuitively you remove it from the outside (unlike the dealer I USED to go to). To do this dealers use a special tool but I should think you can use a few thin plastic spatula's to free the tangs which hold it in place. Once out you just slot the new one in

Do you know how to remove the light from the spoiler on the Cupra estate version?
