Bubbling / dripping noise in petrol tank area

Hi guys

I have an issue that started yesterday. After a drive there is a bubbling / dripping sound coming from the petrol tank area on my mk2 2.0 fsi.

There is also a bit of pressure build up in the tank - if you open the filler cap it releases it.

Any ideas?

From your description, I get a similar sound in my Leon when the tank is full or nearly full. It's just the petrol moving back and forth and pushing air around inside the tank; you will probably find it stops when the car's been stationary for a while or when the tank drops below 3/4 full.

i thought that too but then thought it might be too obvious... I never noticed it on my old clio though! It definitely does happen on my leon though!

Aah wicked. Thanks very much for quick reply. I had visions of the dealer sucking air through their teeth and saying fuel pump issues and ££ sounds flashing.
