Has anyone removed a bulkhead before? ive removed all the bolts but theres loads of sealant holding it in and no way to get in to cut it out!

Can you still buy them new? failing that im thinking of cutting it out and replacing it with a flat sheet of stainless? anyone think of any problems with that?

why are you doing that?

Lots of holes & fixings to be made if you remove it.... and I think there are 'dents' where the heater mounts from the inside.

Have you removed the dashboard, and removed all the things that are bolted to it?

I don't imagine it's still stocked, as I can't think when you'd need to replace it.

Im not running a heater or anything, The only hole I need in the bulk head is the steering column one. I wanted to get it removed to have all the holes welded up and all the tabs removed, but then was thinking i could just cut a piece of sheet to the same shape?

The car is all stripped down to have all the sealant removed, all thats left is the bulkhead!

Wanting to smooth the engine bay and hide everything, smoothed bulkhead is first on my list but replacing it with a flat sheet would be easier, cleaner.. or maybe a carbon fibre sheet....

ahh sounds like will be good if goes to plan would stick with the sheet metal as carbon would me expensive for the size i would recon :) good luck

might just cut it out then.... will measure up tomorrow and make sure ive not missed anything!

Thought it was a long shot that someone might have removed theres and had a few tips for me! just wanted to check tho

I wouldn't remove the original bulkhead tbh. I have completely smoothed the bulkhead on my 6N project and a couple of mates cars. The easiest way I have found to do it is cut out any pressed out pieces like where the wiring comes through etc then weld a large flat piece of 0.8mm steel cut to shape over the top of the lot.
