Hi everyone,

I just test drove a Seat Ibiza 2010 1.2 TDI, there are couple of things I have noticed and wanted to check.

- The emission control light came on when ignition was on, but it went away when I started the car.
- The alternator light came on when ignition was on, but it went away when I started the car.
- The car was feeling sluggish, I was in 3rd-4th gear but I could not get it up from 1k rpm-s and was barely doing around 40km/h. I did not hard floor it, but the throttle felt unresponsive, as I said I could not get it go faster than 40 km/h. I only have experience with 2010 Renault Clio and 2018 Ford Fiesta and both of them would definitely be way faster.

What would be the advice here, what should I do? And are those expensive fixes?

They are a common car so walk away & buy another. If it was rare, or you are a mechanic so can easily fix yourself & can get it cheap, then I see the appeal but just buy one thats not got issues as they can be had cheap enough without risking it

Thanks for the reply,

I later found out by reading manuals and watching videos, that those two lights are supposed to be on when ignition is on and go away as soon as you start the car. Failure to do so, would be an actual problem.

Now I am gonna just check it with a mechanic, and if everything is okay, gonna go for it. It was one of the best preserved cars I have ever seen in my life, as far as 15 year old cars go.
