Buying used

Hi all, considering making the switch from BMW to a VZ2 Formentor, test drove one recently and came across a really good car but would I be walking into a world of technical pain with an earlier model?

The car I test drove was a late December build and the dealer didn't really know what could and couldn't be done in terms of updates and I don't want to be stuck with a car that can't get any of the latest updates.

Thanks

But if it has old hardware, you may have to wait long time for the updates. Did the car suffer from any issues during test drives? I would buy as new as possible.

No issues with the drive, it was mainly city driving though so didn't get to test much in the way of driver aids. Wouldn't be too bothered about if they are a few weeks later for updates, it would always be the concern that they would never come but I guess thats a hard one to call at this stage.

I don't want to be alarmist but there have been people with technical issues, mostly related to infotainment.

My car for example works completely fine but some have issues. Do you know the reason the car is being sold so soon?

Yeah that's my worry, this one was just an ex demo so I would hope has had any issues resolved if they came up. Apparently it was driven daily by the dealership manager until he moved to his next car.

I bought an ex demo VZ2 5 weeks ago, traded in my Mercedes GLC 250 Premium Plus with 68,000 miles, I got a really good price for the GLC and a big saving off the VZ2 price, the cars firmware is 1672, it's been running perfectly "so far" I would definately reccomend one "at the right price"

All those demo cars on AT are over priced.

Dealer demo’s are always overpriced. Nobody buys these cars cash, so it’s down to the finance deals.
They will also be ragged from cold on pretty much every test drive if that’s the kind of thing that would put you off.
My very well looked after, ultra low mileage VZ Edition is going to WBAC in around a week I expect. Anyone wants the top of the range (in the U.K.) Formentor for £38k give me a PM.

Do you think you made a bad decision with the car, Agnes?
Car fulfills certain requirements (on paper), but all driving aids make me fill like I'm a robot. As soon, as I switch on cruise, car takes control. I can't sell it, because it's PCH, so have to live with it for another 19 months and treat like a workhorse. I'm worried that more exciting cars are getting older in the meantime, because I will be aiaming at something around 2017-2018 plate as replacement, to avoid newest/current models.

My experience with WBAC is that they drop the price by atleast 1.5 grand when they actually inspect the car so I have always sold cars privately.
Last time I used them they dropped a £50k car by £250.
Does anyone privately buy a Cupra for £38k????? 90% of these will be financed.

Ive got an acceptable part-exchange price for it as well as a fall back, just trying to squeeze a little more out of it.
If WBAC try to squeeze me too much, I use the part-ex.

Hopefully they find a way to update the system so you can have them all turned off indefinitely. Older cars don't have such systems so surely it cant be mandatory to have them on all the time? I think you will be able to find something you like in 19 months and I hope your ownership in the mean time becomes more fulfilling!

What are you replacing it with?
