Hi
Just had a conrod punch a hole in my 6 yo, 113,000 mile, Altea XL. Its the BXE 1.9 105bhp engine and happened when pulling away gently from a junction.......gutted.
Need a bit of advice......I don't want to buy another BXE engine for it to suffer the same problem so I need to know if a BKC engine will fit straight in as a like-for-like replacement???

Cheers guys

Ok.......ive just bought a replacement engine. Unfortunately i can only get another BXE engine so im going to get my mechanic to change the shell bearings as well as the timing belt etc. Does anyone know the part numbers for the shell bearings???? Or is it just a case of ordering thru my local Seat dealer????

ok......the part numbers as far as i can tell are 045105701B & C for the con rod bearing shells (upper & lower)......is it wise to replace the con rod bolts while im there???? Part number 045105425???

Is this all i need to stop the potential con rod failure in the future in my new engine????

Does anyone know if i need anything else that i may have over looked????

Might be worth having a chat with Dave at Sere motors (Seat dealers) He is a great guy and will no doubt be able to give you all the advice you need to get this sorted. I guess only people that have the BXE will be able to help on this hence the quiet.

I've got a BKD engine so not much use to you. There is a thread on here about this very issue if you search you should see it and may get a better response from those guys if they are still following the thread.
