2001 v5 [170] on a 51 plate my question is with 63000 miles on the clock, am told the engine doesnt have a cam belt but a chain.
when my next service comes about[all done by seat dealers] will they change the cam chain or what happens and i guess if they do what damage to my pocket am i looking at.

Yes it is a chain and I believe there is no specified time/mileage at which it must be changed. However I believe it starts to get inspected at around 75K-90K miles for any signs of wear. Also you should get it checked out if you are hearing any rattling noise coming from the timing chain area. Other than that pretty bullet proof and you shouldnt have too many worries for a few years yet.

aye its a good idea to keep check on the chain upwards of 80k
 
I'm at 115K now and starting to wonder if something is going to go wrong in spectular fashion!
