Apart from 60,000 miles when should the cambelt next be changed? Had a few people tell me different things. Just wanted to make sure. Thanks
Looking at the history on mine it has only been done once at 61,000. Its now up to 94,000 and was thinking when it should be done next.
60k or 4 years is what I understood too. Mine is at 98k and 7 years old so I'll probably look to have mine done next year if possible. If not then it'll definitely get done the year after
Yes. Well, I hope to God that it has; it's been in the local Seat dealer a few times since I got it last year and they've not picked up anything from their systems (I'm sure you'll know more about it than me) and they assure me that they have records of all services etc that were done by Seat. The service book shows that it was done by a main dealer up to 70k miles I think, 80k done by some other garage and 90k done by the garage that sold me the car. It just had the 100k service a couple of weeks ago at 98k.

Unless you have a receipt for it then I wouldnt bank on it. Check to see if the toothed belt was ticked in the service book or stamped on the back.
A local dealer will keep records of service work etc but SEAT do not and one dealer doesnt have access to another dealers system only the warranty invoices.

When I baught my car it only had a duplicate service book. The previous owner lost it in a house move or something. I went back to Marshalls of Cambridge (the dealer who stamped the service book for the forst 5 or 6 services) and the guy was most helpful. He printed off all the paperwork for me with no problems at all!
No, I appreciate it man, especially if I am in fact 40,000 miles and 3 years over the scheduled change! I keep all of my receipts in case I sell (well, I will one day but I don't expect it to be soon) but I didn't get much at all when I bought it?
A girl at work was telling everyone the other day that she can't drive her car because the cambelt is due for replacement. Her partner pranged his car in the snow so they're getting a lift in to work now because if she drives hers it will snap. Seriously, she thinks that going a mile over will have the thing snap. D'oh!
