can anyone help with a dodgy noise?

Just recently noticed a dodgy noise on idle, like a tapping sound. Can't really hear it when I open the bonnet but it very noticeable when sat inside. Its quite a strong knocking/tapping sound

What engine? Does it disappear when you put the clutch down ? Does it speed up if you raise revs

More info needed really? Does it sound like a rattle in the bay or a noise coming from the engine itself? Tappet sounds are usually tell tale of a worn cam shaft

It's the 1.9 tdi fr, recently remapped didn't know if that was the cause. Closer inspection under bonnet and sounds like it is coming from the back of the engine which would explain why I can hear it louder inside. It reduces when clutch down and stops when I apply some revs. The noise is hard to explain to be honest

Dmf failing, what's the torque figure after remap?

Yup sounds like DMF to me too - about to get mine done so familiar with noise
