Can I tow a caravan?

have a 07mk4 1.8t ibiza and thinking of geting a caravan, anyone ideas on what i can tow up to size weight ext ?.......thanks

dont think there is any allowed towing weight for the mk4 ibiza.
DONT GET A CARAVAN there a right menace on the road and you can hardly call it a break away if you have got to empty the toilet etc.
get a tent and be done with it only one hassle is putting it up.

Not wanting to piss on your bonfire, but isn't there a licence requirement for towing if you're a slightly younger driver?

correct,we have a couple of younger lads with HGV,yet can't tow a trailer.it's quite bizarre,7.5 tonne yes,small 200kg trailer no.
And tbh ieven if the ibiza can tow,doesn't mean you should,a caravan would probably push an ibiza into a ditch pretty easily in a side wind.

Brilliant answer, cruel maybe but true! I thought that you can get "springy-up" tents - you the thing, remove from car, remove from case - then run away > tent up, I'd imagine getting it back in the car could be a challenge though!

ok guys thanks for the reply,it's just that im at that age 43 lol i want to do a bit of touring with the family,wife likes it iv never tryed it!...+ it's cheap..heheh just been to look at some and have been told i can tow up 850kg

i'd take it real easy on a light car like an Ibiza with a caravan, yes the 1.8T is plenty torque, more if you have remapped. But i see larger Volvos have a hard time even with a bit of cross winds, also wary about the cooling of the turbo, just saying.

this is a rather bizarre rule i have to agree as you can drive a tractor on the road with the largest trailer going and only need a provisional license. yet a hgv license holder within the age group cant what is that all about
