Better off writing to them, so it's a firm instruction in my eyes..... surprised a barrister suggests speaking to anyone...

if they only replaced the cv joint and boot then the problem could be the snap ring that goes on the end of the drive shaft that slides on the splines of the cv joint clipping them together because if that is at fault(or even if there is one on) the shaft will just slide out of the cv joint

he my uncle so hes my legal advice lol

tbh it could be the missing clip you speak off cuz they told me today it is the same thing that happened last time.

Update On Driveshaft Muck Up!!!

Well heres how it stands,

they r telling me again that having lowered suspension is goin to ruin my car

i said i have spoke to you guys and this is not the case it is more that these gimps have buggered up and they r reluctant to fix the problem.

what i need is for some one to identify this part number and tell me if it is a genuine seat part.

the part number is E6Q0498103AX
the description is: fitted d/s inner cv joint 67.56 +vat UNIT PRICE and 165 pound labour
how long does this job take?

the mechanic is an arrogant f^&k who said it could only be picked up this thursday........ i left it in on tuesday a week ago

this is my first car am i overreacting it took them 2 weeks to fix it the last time?
any replies would be appreciated as i dont think anyone on this forum has had this problem before..

help is help but i defo need an answer by tomorrow basically i want to go to them with my facts so they cant fob me off with flux capacitor talk as per usual. i know the basics but as they have the car i cant have a good look round it to see where they are going wrong??

that knocks my theory in the head then i'm talking about the outer cv joint you've had the inner replaced so am not sure about how inner the joint is connected to the shaft maybe the same snap ring or a circlip .but if you've lost no gearbox oil the c.v joint must have seperated from the shaft so maybe i could be looking in the right direction.
as for the cost of the job it depends how many hours they took to do the job i would guesstimate three hours should more than cover it so thats 55 quid an hour labour !!

it's very hard to give definate facts without looking at the car and the parts this is where them fooks at the garage have got you over a barrell get them to show you the old part that they've replaced, get them to explain why the've replaced it, then take the old part home and get a second or third opinion then maybe you will have some proof to prove they're shat and get some dollar back off em!!

defo no gear box oil lost either time??
but is the lowered suspension accountable for this thats all i want to know so i can nail these suckers once and for all!! lol

no it can't be if the new suspension as been fitted correctly theres no way that could be the cause of the problem.if the suspension was to blame then hundreds of people would have the same problem. sounds to me like they're thinking of excuses and don't know why it's popping out .you could always ring the people who you bought the suspension off to see if they have had any similar problems?

Weird, my post disappeared when the thread was moved

Anyway, what I said was that part number doesn't sound like a VAG part let alone a Seat part.

no worries i hope you nail tha robbin fooks seems like a big set up where your taking it to if you start banging your head against a brick wall with them then i would demand to speak to the manager and tell him how peed off you are see if that gets you anywhere

Even with the driveshaft fully removed the gearbox oil won't spill out.

I reckon your problem is either that the constant velocity joint has been taken appart and not put back together properly, although you do say they replaced the cv which makes me think the the circlip hasn't been attached correctly or even at all! (ask to see the replaced parts)

This may seem a weird question but do you wheel spin your car a lot? A guy at a breakers once told me that wheel spin can damage the cvs??

no i dont wheel spin my car it may look heavily modified but no1 i dont have a hairy lip and a burberry hat and no2 i have respect for my car lol

and thanks for the advice again i think without this forum i wouldnt have a leg to stand on!

this circlip keeps coming up so i think this is properly what caused the problem but is there a special tool to fit and remove it or are they just incompetent?
