I've not seen it mentioned but I'm curious to know if it's possible to independently adjust the volume of the fake noise thingy on the cupra via the infotainment system (so without vcds)?

This feature was introduced on the golf R for 2016 cars with 3 setting related to eco (0%) normal (50%) race (100%). You can set up an individual profile with everything set to race but the actuator turned off or 50%.

I'm not aware of any method to alter within the car infotainment system but my cupra is a 280 my16 . I turned mine down to 20% using obdeleven and is now more realistic and doesn't feel like I'm playing playstation while driving

You can also unplug it which seems to be the perfect solution to me. I was embarrassed to use Cupra mode until I did.

Can you tell me how to unplug it? I'm on the wrong side of 60 years old, so I'm not keen on a fake noise from the engine. I'm happy enough with the true engine noise from a 290PS motor.

I believe you have to remove the scuttle tray from under the bonnet (left hand side as you look at the engine bay) and just unplug the sound activator. I'm sure some kind fellow on here will give you more precise instructions!

Hi

Do you need the pro OBDeleven to do this. What else can you do with it?

Very interested in tweaking a few settings in my MY 16 ST cupra

Thanks
Brett

So,
When putting the car in Cupra mode. It's only the soundaktor that are increasing in sound?
There is no adjusments/modes in the exhaust itself?

No physical change to the exhaust. Just the 'noise' you hear inside the car.

Am I right in saying it's drivers side under the scuttle tray?

Its right in the middle of the scuttle tray. Theres youtube videos to show you if you are having problems, either a Golf GTi/Glof R or Leon will be in the same place.
It doesn't vibrate the windscreen (that would just be silly and even more annoying)

From Google -
The Soundaktor is a device which pushes synthetic engine noise into the cabin by vibrating the front windshield. VW designed it to give its 2.0L engine some low end grunt.
