My Cupra slips and slides all over the road in the wet and you can feel it giving way going around corners at 25mph but its only since i lowered it 100mm and out my 16" rota cup alloys on which are 8" wide but they have stretched tyres on can any of these be the problem

No i havent but when i had my tyres fitted they told me they couldnt balance 2 of them so they put them on the rear so it didnt mess around with the front end but when i contacted the company i brought them from they told me in 8 years he aint heard of an alloy that cant be balanced but the guy from my garage told me the wheels were to wide thats why he couldnt do it.

cheers

right....

forget wheel balancing (for now)

go to somewhere that can align your camber, and tracking - this is what's causing the problem. your wheels need to be pointing in the right direction.

your stretched tyres won't be helping, but I guess you won't listen to that argument:)

Well i have 195's stretched over an 8" rim so its not that much really but its the first time i've ever had stretched tyres so aint that clued up on if there good or bad.

And will i have to buy camber adjusters.

Well i fitted my suspension myself and i didnt notice they were adjustable are thay the same as the lupo gti as there adjustable standard

As Mork says about the suspension

As for not being able to ablance the wheels. I've heard of cheap brand tyres throwing off the balancing. My mate was skint so put cheap FATE tyres on and the guys said they couldn't balance the wheels. He then got hankooks and they balanced up fine.

was gonna say could be tyres, if there cheap, with the stretch there gonna slide all over

195 is quite a bit of stretch surely had 195s on my 7's on my polo and they where stretched!

yeah I think 195 on an 8" wide rim is a pretty big stretch, its probably just as well you have no grip or you'd pull the tyre off the rim going round a corner! I've had 215's stretched on a 7.5" rim.

How did you get the rota cups to fit over your brake discs???????

I've got the same issue mate...

im running parada specs 2 on 17s and they are balanced and camber is all fine but i just can't keep traction at all! Ive put it down to the shite paradas in the wet.

Going to get it double checked this weekend but going uniroyals next time around.

Kyle'87- I'm running 17" with Parada's and since getting the car set up camber wise they are gripping fine.

This is since fitting my rear ARB and quite a few other mods but none the less they are doing a lot better
than I thought they would in the wet tbh. Don't get me wrong though if you want a wet tyre you should not
get yoko's but it's worth it for when it's dry IMO.

When my camber was out on my avons it simply wouldn't turn in when it was wet lol. It was either drive
straight or understeer lol.

Yeh defo in the dry I can get plenty of tyre squeal and hold the corner but in the wet its seriously frightening! I am going back to the alignment place to see if anything has come loose. They just don't seem to heat up very well in the wet :( jap rubber in a low humidity climate for you.
