i'm not sure if its in my head or if there is a problem. Yesterday i was driving back from work and i've given the car a good run between several roundabouts in milton keynes (ok i wash thrashing it a bit). The car seems to pull ok in 2nd gear but just doesn't seem to have much pull in 3rd gear, also the turbo seems quite noisy when on boost almost like a whistle and squeal combined (sorry its not the easiest noise to describe), its quite loud when the windows are open, i'm wondering if the tip or another hose is loose which is causing a boost leak somewhere, although not enough to trip the limp mode or warning lights.

I've heard that tip's sometimes collapse when the turbo is on boost, is this normally only when you've had the car mapped (i.e. running higher boost levels). I don't have a boost gauge yet so i can;t tell how much boost its running (one thing on my list to get).

Also, is the standard TCS a pile of crap and not worth having switched on, i've noticed recently when pulling away quickly in the dry, if the car hits a rut or hole in the road (i.e. accelerating hard in 2nd or 3rd) the TCS cuts in as if the wheel has lost traction, its damn annoying. It was ok in the snow, in fact it stopped me getting stuck in the snow a few time but in the wet and dry its awful.

If you can't feed the power in smoothly now don't bother with a remap mate :)

Lead foot and more boost = constantly active TCS.

You need to get someone with VAGCOM to check for any codes or a boost leak. Guessing will only make you worry about things more.

I've only had the car a couple of months so i'm still getting used to what it can do. I know i should be a little easier on the throttle some times but i'm not used to a car with this level of power yet. For the last 7 years i've had the following cars

2 x Rover 420 TD (not particularly reliable or powerful)
1 x 1.6 Auto Renault Megane
1 x 2.0i Citroen ZX Volcane

As you can see, the most powerful of the cars was the ZX and that was a little tired when i got it. I guess it will take some time to get used to the power but i'm sure i'll get there.

I've just had to fill the car up again today but the garage had sold out of normal 95 ron unleaded so i thought i'd try Super Unleaded just to see if it made any difference, i'll run the car for a few weeks on this fuel to see what happens.

DV will be ordered in the next week or so as well as some new Vacuum hose and maybe a boost gauge although i'm still not sure where will be best to mount one. I'll have a search around to see where everyone else mounts them.

Is there anyone in northampton or Milton Keynes area who has VAGCOM who would consider checking my car to see if there are any issues, willing to pay for this :) otherwise i'll see if the stealers near work can run a few checks on it but of anyone local can do it.
