Car Heavily Scratched

Hey,

My car has been heavily scratched over the weekend. Doesn't look as deep as being keyed, but its substantial enough. The scratched is over 2 doors and onto the Front Wing of my Leon.

I also have some other scratches etc, one or two clearly from footballs and my wing mirror has taken a hit from a red car at some point too! It has also been dented - had a hard life over the past 2 years it sounds!

I've had a detail before on my old Peugeot and loved the results. But would a detail remove this level of scratching? Mine was done in the height of summer too, is this type of service still available in the winter months? Can anyone recommend any Body Shops in the Midlands I could take it too - or anyone to do the detailing? It's easy to look at websites and see the work, but first hand experience of anyone is always better. Looking to get it done ASAP really.

Thanks in advance :)

Hi mate,

Post some pictures up off the scratches. How deep are they, are they all the way down to metal/primer? Generally scratches that cant be removed you can round of edges so like doesnt reflect and catch the scratch to make it visibile.

There are plenty of good detailers down your way. Maybe message Jim@WD on here.

Some images are below. Whilst the scratch can be felt by the finger, it doesn't feel too deep. It's rather like the person who has done it has intended just to scratch rather than damage the vehicle.

Looks really wide from photos. If it can be felt then thats normally a bad sign to be honest.

Well I would certainly get a paint correction specialist to look at it, you will be amazed as to what they can do. FinerDetails is in Manchester...not too far.

I have sent FinerDetails an email, just to see what they say! Manchester is a little far ... not too far though ... all depends on how long it takes!

you might find that a test panel from someone who really knows what he is doing will give good results.

its worth a try before you right it off to a respray anyway !
