Alright fellas,

Wondered if I could get a little comparison to what your cars are running at oil temp wise. My car has started to run a little hotter than it used to and I am not sure this is due to recent mods (ko3s stage 2 CC) or the water pump on its way out due to losing fins etc. Note - water pump was not replaced with cambelt unfortunately as I didn't know what I know now:( and the car is coming up to 50k miles.

The car if driven like a saint runs just at 90-95deg. Driven normally with the odd bit of enthusiastic boost is about 100deg and on track at Castle combe was seeing about 110, maybe 115deg.

Am I worrying about nothing or do you think its running a bit hot? Going to the nurburg ring tomorrow evening so sourcing a new water pump (preferably metal) and getting it fitted is nigh on impossible but i will give it a try if theres a concern.

Cheers lads

i think thats toooo hot...
i have only a remap but my temp never gord higher than 90 deg...if drive it slow or when drag racing or just racing thru town even in summer time..my temp never exceeded 90 deg....
i had the same symptoms 1 year ago and, unfortunatley, it was the water pump...
also check if ur vents are working...might be just a blown fuse....

Hmm, was that your water temperature though or oil temp? Decided to try and pull out the stops and get it replaced now as I will have to do it eventually. I have managed to source a metal impeller pump and get it delivered same day today and pleaded with a garage to fit it by tomorrow lunch before I travel to the nurburg ring at 4pm. I also need to get my tyres fitted tomorrow so leaving it pretty damn tight!

Not as bad as my mate who needs to fit a gearbox himself to his TVR tomorrow morning!

good move. those temps are symptum of damaged impellor on your water pump
MrsB lupo did the same recently.. cracked impellor which stayed inside engine when I removed the pump body..detached off the shaft!

Yeah I'd say thats too hot mate, mine always sits at 90 once it's warmed up, even on hot
days in traffic. Most likely water pump alright.

Cheers Bill, makes me feel less bad forking out the 200 beans to get it sorted!
