Was awaken this morning about 8.30 with the car alarm going off, Got up unlocked the car to silence it, then locked it again, but the alarm went off immediately. Got dressed and went to investigate and the electronics inside were blinking a bit, which eventually stopped, Now appears to be totally dead.
Rang seat assist/AA, can't get a VAG technician until tomorrow morning, but could get a AA guy out within the hour. Still have my old car, so decided to wait for the VAG technician. Did I do the right thing?
Going from memory reading other forums, these sort of problems tend to be a result of a problem with the 12v battery, I know my Ioniq charges the 12v battery using the EV battery when low, so assume the Leon does that too?
Tomorrow marks 2 weeks ownership too

Sorry to hear you're having issues already. With regards to the above, I'm positive I've read somewhere words to the effect of - "Note - the EV battery may be used to charge the 12V battery when low" I can't recall if I saw that in the infotainment system or in the manual but I've read it somewhere.

Yeah had a look round and the golf gte's do that, so will be the same. Checked my cctv and it appeared to try to start charging at the time it was supposed to, but my charger reports it didn't add any electricity. Maybe that's where it has gone wrong 🤔

Quick update, vag technician got the car going in a matter of a few minutes. Basically just jump started it. Seems a fault drained the 12v battery, and the probable cause is a faulty charging socket. It's booked in at the nearest dealer who will investigate it further and replace the socket. Said it was OK to drive, but don't charge it.

Thanks, yeah seems to be like that kind of symptom. It's not sorted btw, I can drive the car in 'hybrid' mode, but can't charge via my charger in case it happens again. It was booked in a dealers for repair on Tues. but need to have a loaner car, so switched to another dealer in 3 weeks time. Will be good to 'run' the engine in a bit anyway I'm thinking.

Just thought I'd add an update to this. Took the car to the seat dealer last Monday and picked it up on Weds morning. All they did was change the 12v battery, as it was showing some faults when tested. All was fine until yesterday morning, when at 3.30 am I was awakened to the car alarm going off again. Yes, exact same problem. The VAG roadside assistance guy was at my house for about 90 mins and said he didn't have a clue why the battery drained again. I pointed out that the car had been fine for the 3 weeks it hadn't been plugged into the home charger(pod point) And this was the just 4th or 5th time I had plugged it in since getting it back from the dealer. Just got a shrug of his shoulders, mind you, it's not surprising, seeing he's had no training on hybrid cars or any new cars in the last 10 years. Car is booked in again in a fortnight

You mean the one that came with the car? Don't think so, but it was out of the bag in the boot, so may have been tested. But I have never used it anyway, my home charger is tethered. My home charger still works fine with my outgoing ionic, and has done for the last 4 years. I mentioned to the service receptionist that the 1st VAG specialist said to check the plug socket and associate electronics in the car, but the 'technician' told me nothing of that sort was mentioned to him, and was just told to check the 12v battery. It seems the service receptionist either didn't listen, or troubleshooted it himself.

Hi Dave, I appear to be having the same problem with my Seat Leon e-hybrid and my dealership is struggling to solve the problem - did you manage to get the problem resolved and if so how?

On mine it appeared to be a badly fitting plug. I hoped a new plug would solve it, but only had the choice of a new lead, about 300 notes or a new charge unit, about 500 notes but with a 3 year warranty. So I opted for the new charge unit and have had no problems since.

Many thanks Dave - as my car has now refused to charge at all twice and also the 12v battery completely drained I suspect the problem like your car could be a faulty charge unit. Why my dealership haven’t thought of this already I don’t know (suspect lack of technical knowledge about my car has something to do with it!!!) but I will mention this and hopefully they will agree to fit a charge unit to rectifying the problems I’ve been experiencing.

Hi, I think you misunderstood me, it was my wall charger that I had replaced. It was podpoint. Both the dealership and podpoint could not find a fault with the car/podpoint.
Dave.

So this year my car went in for its service 1.4 Hybrid late October 2022 and it come away with a Recall update, a day later my infotainment shortly shut down and powered back up, thought ok that's not good i thought. However, a few days later it blanked out on my (at my local shopping area) and didn't start back up. It did allow me to drive back in Battery Mode to home.

The Next day i phoned Cupra up and asked what updates they have applied ,(under the recall) , they confirmed it was a 12v Battery Update i explained about the Issues since the service and that i had Hard Powered the Infotainment Down and back up (Pressed the Power for 25+Seconds) and it powered back up however the lead Technician explained it could be that when they applied the update that it didn't have a full reboot from cold so may have been that however they have booked me in for 2 weeks' time to be seen.

Today I've done a school run and its reverted back to the Battery again the Infotainment has gone all blank by the Power Management section and are totally greyed out it was perfectly fine before all these Sham Updates WHY WHY Cupra theres a Saying if it isn't Broke Don't Fix it!

I rember having a service recall for a control unit that sits on the negative terminal of the 12v battery. The dealer said that it can cause battery drain or misreading of actual capacity for the PHEV version of Leon so they changed it.

I made this post the day I got my car back (1st of October) and described some issues but it was just because of the software configuration that they forgot to do.
