Hi Guys,
Just after a bit of advice and support really here...
Took the car in to SEAT a couple of weeks back with a list of slightly concerning, although not nasty, issues to look into. This being, in no particular order:
Coolant loss.
Whirring inside cabin, kind of in time with turbo, but not perfectly so.
Loud ticking from engine after prolonged use (60 mins+).
Loud turbo and dump valve (this was since the intercooler was replaced, about 600 miles ago).
Difficulty selecting 5th, from any gear, about 1 out of 20 attempts.
So, not the end of the world I thought, but let me tell you where I am right now...
The car is still with SEAT, so they've had it 2 weeks now. Last week I was on holiday, so assumed what I'm about to describe would all be sorted and life could carry on. I was told the coolant loss was a fault with the cylinder head, which would be replaced. And that the noisy turbo/whirring were problems with the turbo, which would also be replaced. Fine, I thought, it'd all be sorted for my return, and they even said they would deliver it back to my door - perfect. So, today, I return from (a lovely) holiday, to see an empty parking space. Oh, the smile just fell off my face and went straight down the sewer. So, checked phone messages and I got this, (paraphrased):
"Cylinder head and turbo fitted, and all was perfect. However, the issue with selecting 5th has now become a major problem, now that the car is boosting properly, because of the dual mass flywheel (I think that is what he said, but have no idea what it is!) is now permenantly touching the pressure plate, whereas before it was only touching a bit, or rarely."
So now, as the claim is so high on the warranty, an independant engineer has to come out to check it all out, but before then SEAT have to remove the gearbox and confirm the fault. So I'm without her for even more time!
So, with no car as this is our only one, I have to get the train to work tomorrow because nobody anywhere in the universe who can help me is on the end of the phone!!!!!
So what I'm kind of wondering is:
Does this all sound reasonable?
Has anyone else had problems of this nature?
Would you all like to know how happy I am that I purchased an extended warranty the week before it went in?! (OK, you probably can guess this one!!!)
Cheers guys.
