OK so it will save some weight but how much?
A few kilo's at best. Let's be honest the bonnet is hardly the heaviest panel on the car.
If you put sound proofing on as well I don't think the weight saving warrants the cost.
Better way to save weight would be to fit lightweight wheels or carbon doors.

You probably wouldn't be worried about sound proofing the bonnet if you went for a carbon one. The standard ones aren't exactly great when it comes to this!
The bonnet is a heavy panel, along with the roof which is proabbly stronger. And there is a difference in decreasing the sprung weight of the car and the unspring weight (which the wheels come under). Alloy wheels are reasonably light as they are as that is the main reason for having them, other than cosmetics.
Anyway, personally I still like the look of them and would get one if one existed...depending on price of course.
at bloke I used to work with had a chavved up diesel 206 in flurecent orange with a carbon bonnet, he regretted it cos the diesel engine tractor noise was even louder!
