Careless Driving

Careless driving ticket! Couldn’t believe it. I was driving home in Birmingham last night and the van in front of me dropped a package right in front of me. When I swerved to avoid it, the copper following me stuck his lights on, stopped me and gave me a ticket. I explained why I’d swerved, and we both got out to look at the package. Turned out it was full of carpet tacks. The blimmin copper still insisted on writing me a ticket. “Tacks evasion”, he called it!!

Maybe the officer in question was at risk of missing their monthly target for number of tickets they need to issue - after all, we are only a week away from the end of the month…………..

On a serious note, maybe check to see what the process is for making an appeal. If you’ve got dash cam footage and if no other motorists were at risk from the avoidance action you took, that may well help your cause.
