cars due for a service... just wondering a good price out there for a full service? and how much parts would cost and where to source them... cheers....

servicing your own car is ok but then you dont get a stamp do you. might put some ppl off when you come to sell it. my local seat dealer wanted £119 to do mine

yeah suppose. this is the list that my local seat was going to do for me on a full service.

£119 inc. or they do a full service and mot for149 inc. but if you check the thread link. adam mentions its alot of checking and not alot of replacing

i worked for VW for a while, if you were being honest with yourself do you think all of that gets checked on a standard service??? remember they work on bonus schemes the quicker the vehicle is in and out the more money they get :ban:

like i said on my first post which i posted the link too. i have never had a car long enough to give it a service so i didnt know what to expect

the list you put up of what they do for the 119 looks very nice. However reality tells us that things aren't always what they seem.

In front of almost every aspect you listed it says check, meaning that it will not be replaced. All replacement parts will be charged extra.

furthermore, 'checking' doesn't really have any meaning at all, and you'll have to take their word that its actually getting done.

I work on many cars, and have noticed that the lists dealers put in the service books are often far from the truth.

I am not saying that thats definately the case here or that its expensive, but just be careful

btw, why aren't the changing the airfilter and fuel filter?

im getting a full service on mine on saturday and they are charging me £80 plus vat and

he is checking a few things for me aswell

yeah in the LINK that i have posted i got the same response. that its all checking. hense why i called them and told them i dont want the service. going to get my mate to change the filters for me and leave it at that i think. got the cambelt booked in for friday. that £80 is not from a seat dealer i take it

no its from a local garage but known the guy for years. at 80 quid you cant grumble. id do the service myself but like to get the brakes and steering checked over as i do alot of town driving.
