id have thought the leon had a vnt type, and overboost is due to a sticking vnt from carbon build up, from pottering around...not working the turbo hard enough!! serious though, use forte diesel additive, in a full tank of diesel, and work the engine hard... it will clean itself up

Boost is controlled by the ECU so its all down to software..

Lots of 1.8T software ask for over boost..

The software controls boost using the N75 valve etc etc, so if the N75 is stciking, you will get an overboost. N75 faults normally cause surging issues though as the ecu tries to correct for them.

Is it something it has suddenly started, or has it always done it? What spec is the car?

That experience is correct too!

My mate MOT's taxi's and when he does the smoke test, clouds of thick black smoke come out and eventually clear up.

Not an issue with the 1.8t though.

what causes over boost now and again my car does it............but why??????????????

stage 3 revo custom code, garrett turbo, audi a3 actuater with blue spring, forge 007p,forge kona carbon fibre intake, forge front mount, jbs cast highflow mani with 3" down pipe, full turbo back non res millteck, milltec 100 cell race cat, gennisis 550cc injectors, blitz sbc,and liquid gauges,2.0t coil packs, ngk think there a 6 platinum lower heat plugs, all hoses upgraded to forge ones, think thats about it on the engine side!!

have recently had the turbo to manifold gasket replaced was wondering if this could be cause???
or a loose hose!!!
it is definately not going into limp mode!!

What garrett turbo is it, and is the map suited specifically for it?

Not the cause of your overboost, but you may want to go for range 7 or even 8 plugs, 6 are stock, and might get a bit hot with your setup.

I think he means Stage 3 Revo Custom Remap (ECU Code)...which is what it is :)

thanks for that jamjay what am i like its the 2871r garret everything set up for it and no codes on the liquid gauges!!!
